Hailing from the desert expanse of Phoenix, Arizona, indie rock band Sleepwar pushes indie rock to another level by combining new wave and synth-pop influence with lyrics speaking to addiction, recovery and the inherent struggles of modern life. Sleepwar is led by Roger Willis (vocals) with Tim Woodbridge (producer, keys), James Allen (bass), Mark Pfister (guitar), and Brendan McGuinness (drums).
Utilizing lush synthesizer soundscapes, Sleepwar produces a sound that is both familiar yet unique. Fans of the five-piece rock outfit have likened their music to that of Tame Impala, the Killers, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons and Local Natives.
The Great Heights Band formed in 2014 and signed with CI Records soon after the release of their first EP, “Weird Thoughts”, and its hit single, “Portland”. The band has actively toured the US with bands including The Pink Spiders, Carousel Kings, and Icarus the Owl as well as sharing the stage with Andrew WK, Unwritten Law, Never Shout Never, New Politics, Bayside, and many more.
The Great Heights Band’s sophomore effort, rad-pop., is big and bold. The album, set to be released on April 20 via CI Records, brings together a diverse mix of pop, punk, nerd, and indie rock, with nods to a retro aesthetic and good old fashioned rock and roll. After touring for a couple of years on their debut LP, Song in Eastern Standard Timing (SEIST), the band wanted to follow it up with a record that was fun and eclectic, but also stood out on its own. “We honed the sound of this record by writing, demoing, and tearing apart dozens of songs and arrangements,” says singer/guitarist Neal Karkhanis. After demoing about 50 songs, the band fully recorded the best 18 before finalizing the album’s track listing at 11, with one bonus track each for CD and vinyl.
All great stories should start with a song. The song that starts this story was “Make It Alright”, penned in her college dorm room by a 19 year old Katy Cole. The song was one of many in a notebook that showed up at jam session in an old River House in the Adirondack Mountains. Chris Schempp was one of the musicians, and immediately connected with Cole, quickly adding guitar riffs and responses to her vocal lines. Before the end of the session, the group had recorded 4 songs. It only seemed natural to record more.
Fast forward 10 years later, through numerous band names, side projects, and other musical stimulation- along with a total of 30 recorded original songs, Schempp and Cole, accompanied by an ever-changing line up of talented musicians, joined forces with producer, Shooter Jennings to record their new album, “Symbols & Snares” as Last Daze. “Symbols & Snares” was recorded in the Echo Park region of LA at Station House Studio, led by engineer, Mark Rains.
While in LA, Jennings sought to bring out the songs that had the most feeling and raw emotion in them. He wanted to capture the intimate moments described in Katy Cole’s lyrics.

Josie Johnson moved from Minnesota to Portland, Oregon in 2010. She and her boyfriend rented a basement apartment on Failing Street. Her boyfriend returned to the land of 10,000 lakes. Josie stayed and wrote about the fateful street. A friend commenting on her sad songs asked, “You’re happy otherwise, right?”
“Failing Street” is just one of the songs she recorded at Jackpot! Recording Studio where fate intervened once again and brought her together with sound engineer Kendra Lynn and bass guitarist Adam Justin Raitano. A bond was formed, a band was born, and now they are Happy Otherwise.
The trio is a blend of poignant lyrics and vocals delivered with theatrical style by Johnson, complimented by the heartfelt harmonies and eclectic percussion of Lynn and held together with artistry by the bass guitar of Raitano.
Minneapolis based singer-songwriter Cassandra Cole doesn't ask for your attention; she demands it. Her diverse tonal palette and classic vocal stylings are reassuringly relevant. Influenced by life's unique perfume of people and place, Cole's music traces the temperature of her own physical journey. From sun-drenched Californian plains to blizzard-misty Minnesotan highways, her voice joins up every temperature in-between like an enchanting map of musical waypoints. As a child, Cole would drift away in records of crackly escapist wonder. If Garland and Holiday set the foundations, Sheeran and Apple provided the scaffold for her own musical development. As a result, her songwriting is an eclectic blend of melodic soulfulness and modern edge.
